Logistics rescue \u2013 unsuitable stretch film threatened shipment<\/h2>

Logistics rescue – inadequate stretch film was jeopardising dispatch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The company ships hundreds of pallets to retail chains every day. Speed, safety and reliability of packaging are critical to their logistics. After a change of film supplier, problems with the quality of the packaging began to arise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The customer was reportedly using a 23 \u00b5m film with an elongation of 150%, but in practice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The foil had a smaller actual thickness and yardage<\/strong> than declared<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Frequent breakage during packing<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The pallets were released<\/strong> during transport<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Customer complaints<\/strong> and returns soared<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    After checking the samples, we found that the actual thickness of the film was only about 18 \u00b5m and the yardage was 20% lower than declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Proven film with a realistic thickness of 23 \u00b5m and an elongation of 250 %<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Testing in production (A\/B testing)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Regular weighing of rolls and record of yardage in the label<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
